I loved the Leon Uris of Battle Cry, Exodus, and QBVII. Not so much the Leon Uris of The Haj and Mitla Pass. Of all he wrote my favorite is Trinity. Thirty years of Irish history, the intersecting lives of three families, and Conor Larkin. Trinity is a long book that flies by/5. How did Gideon Zadok, an American novelist and screenwriter, end up pinned by artillery shells in Mitla Pass? It was never his plan to fight someone else's war. He came to Israel to research a book, but also to escape a crumbling marriage, a dysfunctional family, and the pressures of newfound success in the States.

Mitla Pass is a pass in the Sinai Peninsula only 14 miles long, but somehow the book moves from there to other continents and times to tell I then went on to read almost all of his books because I enjoyed his blend of storytelling with solid historical research/5.

Gideon Zadok is an American author who is to follow an airborne team to secure the Mitla Pass during the Suez Crisis and thereby becomes involved in the Mitla incident when colonel Zechariah (whose real world counterpart is Ariel Sharon) decides to capture it despite other orders.
